There is no safe way to use tobacco

American cancer society has published in January 2019 death rates from cancer and trends over the past 25 years. Since 1991 the death rates have declined 27% as to 2016, or 1.5% annually avoiding more than 2.6 million deaths.

As it is stated in the report, the decline in cancer death rates is mostly due to steady reduction in smoking, as well as improved early detection and treatment.

According to the American cancer society, smoking and use of other tobacco products is responsible for around 30% of all cancer deaths, and 80% of all lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of deaths in the United States both in men and women and is one the hardest cancers to treat. Besides the lung cancers, smoking and use of other products are risk factors for cancers of mouth, larynx, pharynx, esophagus, kidney, bladder, pancreas, liver, stomach, colon and rectum, cervix and myeloid leukemia.
