As the Association Health Mission has been a member of the Smoke Free Partnership (SFP) Coalition since June 1st, 2017, the President of the Association, Nataša Lazarević, took part at the Annual Meeting of the SFP Coalition on 27th and 28th June 2017.
The first day of the Annual Meeting took place in the building of the European Parliament, where a High Level Conference on Illicit Trade of Tobacco Products was organized. A system for tracking and tracing of tobacco products, as established by Articles 15 and 16 of the EU Tobacco Products Directive and the WHO Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, was considered. The representatives of the European Parliament, DG SANTE of the European Commission, the Head of the WHO FCTC Secretariat, the Executive Director of the Framework Convention Alliance (FCA), and the leading experts in the field of health economics and public health discussed the topic.
On the second day, the meeting took place at the SFP’s premises. It was committed to capacity building of the Coalition members on the EU Tracking and Tracing System, as well as to planning of the future activities related to the implementation of the specific articles of the WHO FCTC.
Participation at the Annual Meeting of the SPF Coalition opened up space for new networking and exchange of knowledge and practices in the field of tobacco control.
